They say “99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.” – Steven Wright
Robert T. Homlar is a trial attorney with twenty-five years of experience representing individuals and families in serious civil and criminal matters throughout Georgia, South Carolina, and federal courts across the Southeast. His practice focuses on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, civil rights, whistleblower, and complex and run-of-the-mill criminal defense litigation.
Robert routinely represents clients against insurance companies, corporations, and government entities in challenging cases involving life-changing consequences. He also defends clients facing criminal charges ranging from misdemeanors to murder. Every case is prepared with the expectation that it may ultimately be decided by a jury.
Martindale-Hubbell has awarded Robert its AV® Preeminent™ rating for multiple consecutive years, recognizing the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards among attorneys. He has also been recognized among the “Best Lawyers in America.”
Before founding his Augusta-based law practice in 2016, Robert spent a decade as a prosecutor, gaining extensive courtroom and jury trial experience. Over the course of his career, he has represented, and litigated against, some of the largest corporations and institutions in the United States.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has appointed Robert to serve as Special Counsel in litigation matters.
His cases and commentary have been featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Augusta Chronicle, The Savannah Morning News, Augusta Press, WRDW News 12, WJBF NewsChannel 6, PolitiFact, and other media outlets nationwide. He has been a contributor to the law journal “The Green Bag.”
Robert maintains a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance for matters involving classified information and sensitive government systems. He is also one of fewer than one hundred attorneys in the United States admitted to practice before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
A native of Marietta, Robert earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Clients know Robert for being direct, accessible, and fully invested in their cases. Unlike high-volume firms, he emphasizes personal relationships, selective case intake, and hands-on representation from start to finish.
Robert and his wife Kelly, live in Augusta, Georgia, with their three children. Outside the courtroom, he enjoys hunting, the outdoors, and spending time with family.
